Balanced approach needed for travel policies on security, economy

To: Sen. Grassley, Sen. Ernst, Rep. Hinson

From: A constituent in Waterloo, IA

March 16

A broad travel ban would have significant negative economic impacts for the United States. Restricting travelers from 43 countries could disrupt business operations, strain the tourism industry, and hinder international collaboration across sectors. While national security concerns are valid, blocking visitors from entire nations creates substantial costs and barriers. A more targeted, risk-based approach that facilitates legitimate travel would better uphold America's economic interests and global leadership. There are ways to enhance vetting without resorting to overly blunt policies that undermine economic dynamism. A balanced approach considering both security and economic factors would serve the nation better in the long run.
