Honor Missouri voters' will, uphold Proposition A's worker protections
To: Rep. Voss, Gov. Kehoe, Sen. Burger
From: A constituent in Cape Girardeau, MO
April 2
The statewide Proposition A approved by Missouri voters in 2022 mandated a phased increase in the state minimum wage to $12 per hour by 2024, as well as established a minimum amount of annual paid sick leave for workers. As representatives elected to serve the interests of Missourians, it is imperative that the will of the people expressed through this ballot measure be fully upheld. Attempts to roll back or undermine the provisions of Proposition A disregard the clear desires of voters and erode faith in the democratic process. I urge you to resist any efforts to weaken or repeal this law, and instead focus your efforts on faithfully implementing the policies adopted through Proposition A. Protecting workers' rights to a livable minimum wage and paid sick leave is vital for promoting economic security and public health across our state.
