I spent many years on overseas bases as a military spouse. We took our responsibility for security very seriously. We were taught about not sharing things on social media that could hint that our spouses were deploying. Armed Forces Network played commercials teaching us how our adversaries comb social media for carelessly dropped hints about what our military is doing. I’m appalled and disgusted that our highest level officials are using a nonsecure, commercial app for operational planning. Your average airman would face court martial for discussing mundane sensitive information on a social messaging app. In addition to the horrendous OpSec, the discussion appears to be about selling the sacrifices of our military members. It talks about renumeration from our Allies who didn’t even ask us to do this. I’m glad our days as a military family are over. I have big feelings about turning our brave men and women in uniform into a paid mercenary force which is essentially what demanding renumeration for military operations is.
