Donald Trump and his associates have engaged in a disturbing pattern of corruption, self-dealing, and abuse of power for personal gain. Rather than upholding the rule of law and acting in the public interest, they have repeatedly undermined key government institutions and processes to enrich themselves and their allies. The systematic firing of inspectors general eliminated vital oversight mechanisms designed to root out waste, fraud and abuse within federal agencies. This cleared the way for unethical conduct and misuse of government resources with impunity. Similarly, the proposed weakening of the Foreign Agents Registration Act would enable covert foreign influence over U.S. policymaking. Perhaps most egregiously, Trump appears to be overtly selling access and policy favors to the highest bidders through schemes like the multi-million dollar Mar-a-Lago dinners and one-on-one meetings. This is a flagrant violation of the Constitution's Emoluments Clause which prohibits federal officeholders from receiving payments from foreign or domestic interests. Such rampant corruption erodes public trust, undermines democracy, and compromises America's standing in the world. We must hold President Trump fully accountable through all available legal means and institutional checks and balances. The rule of law and the integrity of our government institutions are foundational principles that must be vigorously defended and upheld.
