Please advocate for the immediate release of Mahmoud Khalil. I am a very concerned citizen of the United States. One of our core values as a nation is that of freedom of speech. We know at the foundation of our nation we are able to agree or disagree with our leadership or each other. More importantly, we have the right to express that opinion in ways that we feel are appropriate as long as we don’t infringe on the rights of others. Mahmoud Khalil is legally in our country. With all of the documentation that he needs. By speaking out, he was not breaking any laws. He was abiding by the rights granted in our constitution to free speech. He needs to go free. I find it quite ironic that insurrectionists of January 6th were RELEASED under this very same ideal. Even though they HAD infringed on others rights by assaulting the police officers who defended our capitol. Mahmoud Khalil has NOT done anything like that, yet he is arrested and threatened with deportation. This is a slippery slope. If he is not released it sends the message that you do not respect our rights to free speech. It is NOT free speech if everyone has to agree with leaders. The best way to remind citizens of the United States that their rights are important to you as our leadership is to advocate for his immediate release and give him restitution for inappropriate detention.
