Protect PSLF and your constituents’ financial future

To: Sen. Lee, Rep. Moore, Sen. Curtis

From: A constituent in Salt Lake City, UT

March 12

I'm deeply concerned about this about President Trump's recent executive order targeting the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program. It directs the Education Secretary to redefine 'public service' in ways that could exclude many legitimate nonprofit workers. I work in public service, and I have been working toward PSLF for nearly 8 years. These potential changes threaten the financial future I've been planning on. Please issue a public statement affirming that PSLF eligibility changes require Congressional action, not executive orders. And please use your oversight authority to challenge any regulatory changes that would harm borrowers working toward forgiveness. I would appreciate knowing what specific steps you'll take to protect this bipartisan program created under President Bush.
