The reckless actions of the current administration pose a grave threat to our nation's democratic principles and values. There is a disturbing pattern of secrecy, militarization, and disregard for Constitutional checks and balances. The recent breach involving cabinet officials discussing sensitive war plans on an insecure messaging app exemplifies the careless handling of critical matters. Furthermore, the diversion of resources from essential social programs to expand military might and border enforcement is deeply concerning. Slashing funding for healthcare, education, housing assistance and other vital services will only exacerbate hardships for millions of Americans. Simultaneously, the mistreatment and dehumanization of asylum seekers at detention centers is a violation of human rights and our nation's humanitarian values. This relentless drive towards authoritarianism and militarization must be halted immediately. I urge you to take decisive action to rein in executive overreach, protect social safety nets, reform inhumane immigration policies, and uphold democratic norms of transparency and accountability. The American people deserve a government that serves their interests, not one fixated on accumulating unchecked power at their expense. Safeguarding our democracy from this dangerous trajectory should be the utmost priority.
