Do not pass funding bill without guardrails against unilateral control. Congress must reassert its constitutional authority over the power of the purse by including enforceable guardrails in any funding measure. Elon Musk has no legal jurisdiction to commandeer the operations and finances of the U.S. government through his hacker collective DOGE. Their illegal power grab erodes our democratic institutions and undermines the will of the people as expressed through their elected representatives. Passing a CR without addressing this crisis would enable further consolidation of power by wealthy, unelected actors who are overriding the system of checks and balances. Democracy itself is at stake if Congress abdicates its duty to constrain this authoritarian overreach. I urge you to vote against any funding bill that perpetuates this constitutional crisis without installing vital protections.
