Due Process Rights for Garcia and Others Unlawfully Deported

To: Sen. Wyden, Rep. Bonamici, Sen. Merkley

From: A constituent in Beaverton, OR

April 2

According to an Atlantic article, the US government has admitted to mistakenly deporting El Salvadoran, Kilmer Abrego Garcia, a man who has US protected status, to a prison in which he is likely being tortured— for no good reason. He has no criminal record. He does have an American wife and two American children including a severely disabled five year old. Kilmer has had no contact with his family or attorney since his unlawful rendition. ICE says it can’t return him here now that he’s under El Salvadoran law, but the US government is paying 6 million to an El Salvadoran prison to abuse him. The irony is that he fled gang violence in El Salvador years ago. Bring him and all the others home for lawful due process.
