I have often expressed pride in my State, and specifically in your efforts, to ensure we continue to lead this nation forward.
Now, I am asking for your help.
Just today…
At least 40% of the staff at the Administration for Community Living (ACL), the agency that funds programs that run senior centers and distribute 216 million meals a year to older and disabled people through the Meals on Wheels program, received layoff notices.
The entire staff (~20 workers) at the Division of Energy Assistance, lost their jobs. This office runs the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program, or LIHEAP, which helps 5.9 million low-income households pay heat and cooling bills and pay for home repairs to boost energy efficiency.

For more than 60 years, my country has inspired me to patriotism, devotion, pride and even love.
Actions such as those above, leave me ashamed and embarrassed.
Anything you can do to set this right would be greatly appreciated.
