Ohio has spent the past 30-40 years living this conservative “dream” and can you honestly say Ohioans are in a better place? The divide between social classes is so great in this state at this point in time. The rich keep getting richer and the poor keep getting poorer. All the conservative policies that have been put in place have not made Ohio a place people want to live or move to. I’m a graduate student and I can tell you I will be moving away from this state as soon as possible. You have made it so public schools are ineffective and there is no way to fund them except federally. I work in the mental health field with children and you have not made it easier for families to access the care they need for their children. Research shows that therapy and medication are most effective together. But Ohio has not stepped up to help its children and now that the federal government is looking to cut Medicaid, how will the most vulnerable among us get the care they need? Parents do not feel support from the state or the federal government. Parents will try to medicate their children more. Or child abuse rates will rise. Your lack of thinking through the longterm consequences of these decisions is coming back to haunt you. Continuing to cut these programs will only serve to decimate Ohio further. If your goal is to run Ohio into the ground, congratulations, it’s working!
