The Columbia River Gorge is a national treasure that requires proper oversight and management to protect its scenic beauty and natural resources. Unfortunately, the proposed Washington House Budget could jeopardize the vital work of the Gorge Commission by significantly reducing its funding. As a concerned citizen, I urge you to take action and restore the Gorge Commission's funding to ensure the preservation of this iconic landscape for present and future generations. The Gorge Commission plays a crucial role in upholding the National Scenic Area Act, safeguarding the region's ecological integrity, and promoting responsible development. Adequate funding is essential for the Commission to fulfill its mandate effectively. Please prioritize the protection of the Columbia River Gorge by allocating the necessary resources for the Gorge Commission to continue its important work. The Gorge's natural wonders are irreplaceable, and we must act now to secure its long-term conservation.
