I urge you to strongly condemn the round up currently underway of college students - permanent residents and those on student visas - whose only "crime" is peacefully opposing Israel's tactics in the war in Gaza. The latest high-profile example is the arrest and planned deportation of Rumeysa Ozturk, who co-authored an opinion piece for the Tufts University school paper last Fall. Like other students who have been arrested, she has not been charged with any crime. This is a blatant and shameful violation of the First Amendment that has nothing to do with actually fighting antisemitism and everything to do with an authoritarian crackdown on any views that are not in lockstep with the regime running our country.
