As your constituent and a concerned American citizen, I am writing to express my deep concern over the ongoing conduct and record of former President Donald J. Trump, particularly his use of tariffs and his broader disregard for democratic norms, rule of law, and the well-being of the American people. During his presidency, the tariff policies implemented by Mr. Trump not only strained relationships with key allies, but also had lasting negative consequences on American farmers, small businesses, and consumers. These tariffs were often levied unilaterally, without proper consultation with Congress, and without a coherent or effective strategy. American taxpayers bore the cost, while promised manufacturing gains failed to materialize. More broadly, we are still dealing with the fallout from an administration that encouraged division, misinformation, and a shocking attack on our democratic institutions—culminating in the events of January 6, 2021. The pattern of behavior, both in and out of office, should not be ignored. It is harmful to democracy to allow someone who has shown such contempt for constitutional principles to remain eligible for public office without accountability. I urge you to support all lawful efforts—whether through impeachment, disqualification under the 14th Amendment, or any other appropriate means—to hold Donald Trump accountable. No one is above the law, and history will judge us by how we responded in this moment. Thank you for your service, and for listening to your constituents.
