Demanding disclosure of purpose of trans data collection

To: Lt. Gov. Patrick, Rep. Cole, Sen. Eckhardt, Gov. Abbott

From: A verified voter in Austin, TX

March 20

Texas has been collecting information on transgender individuals who attempt to change the sex listed on their identification documents like driver's licenses and birth certificates. This unwarranted data collection raises serious privacy concerns and appears to be part of the state's broader efforts to undermine the rights of the LGBTQ+ community. I demand that the state disclose its justification for this invasive practice and reveal how this sensitive information is being used and shared. Targeting a vulnerable minority group in this manner is unacceptable and a violation of their civil liberties. Transparency is essential to hold the government accountable and protect the freedoms enshrined in the Constitution. The public deserves a full explanation for this troubling action.
