DO NOT MESS WITH THE WILL OF THE VOTERS
To: Rep. Russo, Sen. DeMora
From: A verified voter in Columbus, OH
March 12
I am writing to express my concern regarding recent discussions around potential changes to Ohio’s marijuana laws, specifically in relation to the will of the voters.
While I do not have a strong personal opinion on marijuana laws in Ohio, I believe it is crucial that once the majority of voters have clearly expressed their intentions, lawmakers and the governor should respect those choices.
Changes should only be made to clarify vague language or address specific issues, and if lawmakers seek further adjustments, those changes should be put back in front of voters for approval.
It seems that some lawmakers and the governor are aiming to weaken the voters’ decision and increase tax revenue, which raises concerns about disregarding the democratic process. Even if one does not have a strong stance on the marijuana issue, it is important that elected officials uphold the will of the voters. This sets a concerning precedent for future voter-approved laws in Ohio.
I urge you to respect the choices that Ohio voters have made and leave the law alone.
