An Open Letter
To: Rep. Kiley
From: A constituent in Truckee, CA
March 28
Our nation's museums and educational institutions should serve as beacons of truth, fostering understanding and preserving our shared history and cultural heritage. Attempts to distort or suppress factual information to align with a particular ideology undermine the core principles upon which these institutions were founded. As citizens, we have a duty to safeguard the integrity of our museums and ensure they remain dedicated to increasing knowledge through objective, well-researched exhibits that accurately represent the diverse experiences that shape our national identity. We must protect our constitutional rights to free speech and access to information by rejecting efforts to impose censorship or revisionist narratives. Our request is for the Smithsonian to uphold its long-standing commitment to the "increase and diffusion of knowledge" through impartial, scholarly curation that celebrates our nation's rich tapestry without ideological bias.
