Engagement in diplomatic efforts is crucial to facilitate dialogue between the DRC government, rebel factions, and regional actors. Additionally, increasing humanitarian assistance is essential to alleviate the suffering of displaced populations and those affected by the conflict. I am concerned by the lack of public statements from your office regarding this pressing issue. The people of the DRC urgently need international support, and I urge you to: 1. Publicly condemn the ongoing violence perpetrated by the M23 and other armed groups in eastern DRC. 2. Advocate for robust U.S. diplomatic engagement to support peace initiatives and negotiations involving all relevant parties. 3. Support increased humanitarian aid to address the needs of displaced and vulnerable populations affected by the conflict.
