The president's invocation of the Alien Enemies Act to detain and deport Venezuelan immigrants is an egregious abuse of power and blatantly unconstitutional. This archaic law was intended for declared wars, not as a tool for indiscriminate immigration enforcement based solely on nationality. Circumventing due process protections raises grave civil liberties concerns and echoes past injustices like the internment of Japanese Americans during World War II. This unilateral executive overreach cannot stand. Vigorous judicial intervention is imperative to uphold constitutional rights and prevent further discriminatory actions cloaked under false claims of "invasion." Immigration laws already empower robust deportation of criminal gang members through proper legal channels. Resorting to wartime powers is an unnecessary and dangerous erosion of cherished American principles. This unlawful power grab must be swiftly halted to safeguard the rule of law.
