Preserve FEMA, support emergency disaster response and recovery

To: Gov. Shapiro, Pres. Trump, Sen. Collett, Sen. McCormick, Rep. Malagari, Sen. Fetterman, Rep. Dean

From: A constituent in Lansdale, PA

March 25

Eliminating FEMA would leave communities vulnerable and without vital support during disasters and emergencies. The federal government has a critical role to play in coordinating disaster response efforts and providing assistance to impacted areas. Recent natural disasters like hurricanes, wildfires, and floods have demonstrated the necessity of a robust emergency management agency that can mobilize resources and aid recovery. Abandoning FEMA would be an irresponsible dereliction of the government's duty to protect its citizens in times of crisis. Instead of eliminating this essential agency, we should be strengthening its capabilities and ensuring it has the resources to rapidly respond when disasters strike and support communities in rebuilding afterward. Leaving people to fend for themselves in the wake of catastrophic events is unacceptable and goes against our basic principles of providing for the general welfare.
