The magazine WIRED has just published an article on the DOGE and the Social Security legacy computer system. They have made a decision to upgrade the COBOL computer system. The plan is to complete this transition in three or four months. At least that’s what they’re saying. Since this is a federal computer system, I want to understand how you Senators support untrained federal workers who have no experience using the existing COBOL system, completing this in 3 to 4 months instead of perhaps 3 to 4 years. I understand that you senators have no experience in computer programming. And it’s all quite mysterious to you. But at the same time they’re supposed to be issuing 65 million Social Security checks while all of this is going on. The last thing I will mention is computer validation systems. The employees that work for Elon Musk and are now toothpicked all over the federal, with no federal training and no security clearances, will not be validating this process. I’m sure the term validation and computers are quite mysterious in general to you. In any kind of secure system upon which critical output depends; in computer validation speak, any new system must be validated. I.e. tested and not tested haphazardly, but with rigorous repetitive validation protocols and exercises. If the system does not pass the validation requirements, then it cannot be deployed. The recklessness with which all of you sit back and watch is stunning. Don’t be surprised if you have aging family members who suddenly can’t get their checks. Because you could not be bothered to stand up and act like our Representatives and say no to the President of the United States and this South African born expatriate. We voters are watching you and we will vote accordingly if there is another election. Based on the latest presidential executive order.
