Immigrant children are here through no fault of their own and have a moral and legal right to an education without fear or discrimination. Allowing immigration enforcement in sensitive locations like schools and places of worship unjustly terrorizes these vulnerable children and creates an atmosphere of fear that disrupts learning and personal wellbeing. It also places an undue burden on educators and religious leaders who are then forced to make difficult choices between following the law or protecting those in their care. This policy shift is cruel and counterproductive. I urge you to reverse this inhumane directive and reinstate the previous protections that rightfully recognized schools, hospitals, and houses of worship as sensitive locations where all people should feel safe and welcome regardless of immigration status.
