Libraries are a trusted resource, vital to our communities. The president's decision to cut funding for the Institute of Museum and Library Services is deeply concerning. The IMLS has been instrumental in supporting libraries across Pennsylvania, allocating millions annually for essential programs that ensure equitable access to information and educational resources. Defunding the IMLS would severely undermine libraries' ability to provide invaluable services to Pennsylvania residents, depriving communities of spaces for learning, literacy development, and intellectual enrichment. We must prioritize funding organizations that empower citizens through knowledge and continue investing in the infrastructure of an educated, well-informed society. I urge reconsideration of this decision to restore IMLS funding and protect Pennsylvania's libraries.
