We must urge our elected representatives to reject these reckless reductions and reinstate full funding for the NWS and NOAA. The catastrophic 1997 Red River flood highlights the importance of robust weather forecasting and preparedness. As climate change increases the frequency of extreme weather, expert data from the NWS is more crucial than ever for safeguarding lives and livelihoods. Our communities' safety and economic stability depend on Congressional action to protect this invaluable public service.
