Protect Arkansas libraries - prioritize access to educational resources

This proposed legislation to dissolve the Arkansas State Library and its governing board represents a concerning overreach that could undermine access to crucial educational and informational resources for communities across the state. Public libraries play a vital role in promoting literacy, providing equal opportunities for learning and personal growth, and preserving our shared cultural heritage. The bill would also restrict access to increasingly popular audiobooks and ebooks, limiting valuable resources that many rely on. Rather than defunding or dismantling these invaluable institutions, we should be working to strengthen and expand their services to meet the evolving needs of all Arkansans. I urge you to reconsider this misguided bill and instead prioritize measures that will protect and enhance our state's library system for the benefit of current and future generations. I love my local libraries and they are severely undervalued in today's society.
