Doge and musk have got to go

To: Sen. Van Hollen, Sen. Alsobrooks, Rep. Elfreth

From: A constituent in Arnold, MD

March 14

I am deeply concerned about the sudden increase in government dismissals. As reported by Reuters, the actions spearheaded by non-elected President Elon Musk have culminated in nearly 10,000 layoffs, impacting sectors such as federal lands and care for veterans. It's clear this problem extends far beyond mere numbers. Can you believe, those entrusted with guarding our nuclear arsenal were let go then only some were rehired! They can’t find others. This reckless behavior from the White House is causing serious harm, particularly to the most vulnerable, including those already facing economic challenges—such as your MAGA voters. Thousands are left without income or services, exacerbating the difficulties faced by many Americans. In any democratic society, the desires of a small group of affluent individuals should not dictate policies affecting the majority. Yet, we're witnessing an unnerving transition to a tech oligarchy, with Musk exercising tremendous influence without any democratic mandate. This change threatens to undermine the very principles of our democracy. I strongly urge you to address this issue proactively and ensure transparency regarding the implications of these actions. Here's a suggested 3-step plan: 1. Gather data on grants and funds earmarked for ALL congressional districts that have been disrupted by Musk's actions this year. 2. Work across the aisle with Democratic members to endorse legislation mandating that funds are utilized as initially planned. 3. If Musk & Trump circumvent this allocation, they're in violation of yet another law. They cannot make the excuse that no one is left to manage these programs. With or without your support, we will harness all available platforms, spanning from press coverage to social media to television broadcasts, to demonstrate the impact of these actions on American citizens across all demographics - including those who supported your campaigns. Our democratic experiment, over 248 years in the making, is too precious to endanger. A bipartisan approach is essential in defending our shared values and democracy. Please take swift action. It is our responsibility to ensure the interests of all Americans, not just a select few, are prioritized. Thank you for your time. I look forward to hearing how you plan to address this matter. Thank you,
