I am writing as a concerned constituent from Merced. I have observed with increasing alarm the actions and policies emanating from our federal government—actions that many Californians, including myself, feel are exceeding constitutional boundaries and infringing on our rights. I believe it is essential for our state to take decisive measures to protect Californians from what appears to be federal overreach.
Our state has long been a leader in progressive policy and local innovation. However, when decisions affecting our lives and communities are made far away in Washington without proper local input, the unique needs and values of Californians are at risk. I respectfully urge you to consider legislative and policy measures that will ensure state authority is respected and that our state’s priorities remain at the forefront of decision-making.
Specifically, I ask that you:
• Examine opportunities to strengthen California’s ability to govern independently in areas that affect our daily lives—ranging from economic policy and public safety to education and health care.
• Advocate for a balanced relationship between state and federal powers, ensuring that local voices are heard and that Californians can determine their own future without undue external interference.
• Engage in bipartisan dialogue to protect individual liberties and promote policies that secure the well-being of all Californians.
I appreciate your ongoing efforts in the service of our state, and I trust that you will consider these concerns seriously as you shape California’s legislative agenda. I look forward to seeing California continue to serve as a model of self-determination and respect for individual rights.
Thank you for your attention to this important matter.
