The recent measles outbreak is extremely concerning, putting the health and safety of our communities at risk. While I understand the desire for personal freedom, prioritizing public health must take precedence during a crisis like this. The measles vaccine has proven to be 94% effective in preventing this highly contagious and potentially life-threatening disease. Religious exemptions already provide reasonable accommodation, and further exceptions would only exacerbate the outbreak we're battling. I urge you to vote no on House Bill 380 to help contain this public health emergency. Preserving herd immunity through widespread vaccination is crucial for protecting our most vulnerable citizens. Please take decisive action to address this outbreak and oppose measures that would enable its spread. The well-being of North Carolinians should be the top priority.
