I was so disturbed this morning when I read the everyone working in the LIHEAP program has been terminated. This move effectively ends a program that was authorized by Congress. I worry about what the people who can’t afford to pay their heating bills in Maine are going to do. Should people in our state be forced to choose between buying food for their family and heating their homes? I truly don’t understand how this makes American “great.” We are the wealthiest country in the history of the world. People should not be unable to heat their homes. It’s a disgrace. What are you going to do about this overreach and how will you ensure low-income Mainers stay warm in the winter?
