Recently, 2,400 employees were terminated at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. This was a deliberate gutting of America’s health care infrastructure and expertise, carried out under political orders, behind closed doors, with no transparency, and little if any public awareness or discussion. The stated goal was to “Make America Healthy Again”, which is actually the most asinine phrase I’ve ever heard. It will NOT make America healthy, it will cause great HARM when another pandemic, outbreak or other catastrophic health crisis arises, and could literally kill people since we won’t be ready as a nation to handle it. The CDC is the backbone of the U.S. public health system. It monitors outbreaks, investigates environmental and occupational hazards, supports local health departments, responds to pandemics, and ensures vaccine safety. It’s almost like the current administration wants to kill much of the population. There will be a time when we really need those federal employees, to make us safe and figure out the complex problems we have globally regarding carcinogens, viruses, deadly chemicals and general health conditions. Please do everything you can to reinstate the employees who were fired so that we can really make America healthy again. Please do your part in standing up to Trump and Musk, who so blatantly disregard public safety. You need to show us your backbone, show us your courage, and step up to protect your constituents!
