VOTE NO on HB0387 (SB0474)
To: Rep. Cohen
From: A constituent in Bartlett, TN
March 24
This proposed legislation poses a grave threat to public safety by obstructing healthcare professionals' ability to make informed decisions and provide appropriate care for their patients. Firearms pose a significant risk, and doctors must be allowed to inquire about their presence to protect individuals at risk of self-harm or harm to others. Preventing this crucial line of questioning undermines the medical field's ethical obligation to safeguard lives. Furthermore, it infringes upon the rights of victims of gun violence by prioritizing firearm ownership over their well-being. Healthcare should be centered around patients' needs, not special interests. This misguided attempt to shield firearm owners from scrutiny jeopardizes the lives of the most vulnerable. I implore you to reject this dangerous bill and uphold the sanctity of the doctor-patient relationship and public safety.
