An Open Letter

To: Sen. Banks, Rep. Stutzman, Sen. Young

From: A constituent in Redkey, IN

March 13

The mass firing of over 1,300 employees at the Department of Education by the Trump administration is deeply concerning. Gutting the workforce will undoubtedly cripple the department's ability to provide vital services and programs that support students, teachers, and educational institutions across the country. This reckless action jeopardizes the quality of education and undermines the nation's commitment to investing in its future. The legal battle surrounding these terminations raises serious questions about the administration's adherence to established procedures and protections for federal workers. Firing employees en masse without proper justification or due process is not only unethical but also a violation of labor laws. It is imperative that the administration be held accountable for its actions and that the rights of these dedicated public servants are safeguarded. I urge you to take a strong stance against this egregious overreach by the Trump administration. Demand that the Department of Education be fully staffed to carry out its essential functions effectively. Advocate for the reinstatement of the terminated employees and ensure that proper protocols are followed in any future personnel decisions. The well-being of our education system and the futures of countless students hang in the balance.
