As a former professional educator I do not agree with the dismantling of the Department of Education without oversight, forethought and qualified overseeing in order to save money. The massive cuts without planning as to the impact to the students impacted and services provided by nonprofessionals involved in the education system is callous and without merit. Although many believe because they have attended school they are qualified to weigh in that is not always the case. Have you taught, observed or spent time in curriculum of the training of educators? Having previously worked in a major Fortune 500 company for over 24 years and been through the hostile takeover by a corporate raider this is not the same. Although your tactics mimic some of the same dismantling impacting many lives and earnings of the workers, a government is NOT the same as business. Your narrow vision in thinking so is merely feeding your egos, pockets and causing havoc while the fallout is not yet fully felt by our country. You are sending a message that only the elite with the ability to pay for private education will be educated, this will then cause an even bigger drain on qualified educated people to have our country function and flourish. I now refer to what you are proposing as the dumbing down of America and for this I am saddened.
