The United States’ pivot from Ukraine to Russia is deplorable. President Trump’s and Vice President Vance’s treatment of President Zelenskyy was nothing short of disgusting. I do not approve of the authoritarian trajectory of this administration in the slightest, but to pivot our foreign policy in such a short sighted and dramatic way is extremely dangerous. It signals to me the administration’s corruption by Russian influence, as that is the only rationale I can muster for such a self-sabotaging action - it certainly does not align with my view of my country as a powerful liberator and defender of democratic ideals and freedom. It destabilizes our world and signals greater conflict ahead. Do not forget the lessons of Chamberlain and Munich. Russia will not stop here, especially if Ukraine is politically and militarily neutered.
