Today I watched Senator Cory Booker get up in front of the Senate at the end of a 25 hour nonstop speech to say, this is not okay. Cutting research into lead poisoning, tuberculosis, and gun safety. Gutting the education department, the national endowment for humanities - funding for libraries, for god's sake. Cutting veteran jobs. Cutting USAID. Making it harder for the elderly and disabled to get social security. All so that billionaires can get tax cuts. So that Elon Musk and his bro army can demolish the government services that work to keep people healthy, housed, and surviving.
What are you doing? Decades from now, when you look back, will you be ashamed that you didn't try hard enough to stop the destruction of the American Dream? I'm ashamed for you, and deeply disappointed. This isn't about party lines, or politics, this is about people's daily lives.
I hope you take some kind of action - the least of which would be, standing up in front of your colleagues and the American people like Senator Booker did, and saying, "This is wrong." And then actually doing something to stop the bleeding.
