Rectify unjust deportation and violation of legal rights

To: Sen. Padilla, Rep. Torres, Sen. Schiff

From: A constituent in Chino, CA

April 2

The case of Kilmar Abrego Garcia's deportation to El Salvador despite his protected legal status raises grave concerns about violation of due process and human rights. An innocent man with no criminal record has been unjustly imprisoned in a foreign country due to an acknowledged administrative error by immigration authorities. This represents an alarming disregard for the rule of law and the integrity of the U.S. immigration system. As the Trump administration has admitted its mistake in deporting Mr. Abrego Garcia, immediate corrective action must be taken to rectify this injustice. All available diplomatic channels should be urgently pursued to secure his safe return to the United States and reunification with his family, including his disabled U.S. citizen child who depends on his care. Failure to do so would undermine America's commitment to human rights and the constitutional protections afforded to all persons within its jurisdiction. The disproportionate measure of incarcerating Mr. Abrego Garcia in a Salvadoran megaprison, despite having legal protections against such removal, is unconscionable and demands accountability. Appropriate measures must also be implemented to prevent any recurrence of such egregious violations of individuals' legal rights and humanitarian considerations. The American people expect their government to uphold its laws and values, not trample them underfoot through reckless administrative overreach. Swift remedial action is imperative to restore confidence in the immigration system's integrity and adherence to due process.
