Change Course on Oz - Reject Unqualified Nominees
To: Sen. Marshall
From: A verified voter in Paola, KS
March 26
I am embarrassed to see that you voted to advance Mehmet Oz’s nomination. He is unqualified, lacks leadership experience, and has historically promoted questionable (at best) medical advice using his platform of fame.
I had hoped that you would learn from the public embarrassment that is the Signal messaging incident and ensure that all nominees were actually qualified moving forward. What will it take for you to push against unqualified nominees? What will it take for you to listen to your constituents?
I had expected more from you, as a doctor, than to not only allow but endorse the nomination of a man who uses his fame to profit from dangerously inaccurate medical advice. His offenses are so egregious that he was questioned by the Senate in 2014 over his endorsement of two “weight loss” products.
It is not too late. Publicly renounce his nomination. Vote against him. Encourage your colleagues to do the same.
