H.R. 471, the “Fix Our Forest” Act, won’t do any such thing. Instead, it will open the floodgates to reckless logging, roll back protections for endangered species, and undermine core environmental protection laws.
The National Environmental Policy Act requires the federal government to consider the environmental impact of all major federal actions before implementation. The Endangered Species Act protects endangered plants and animals from extinction and conserves the ecosystems on which they depend. H.R. 471 will gut major provisions of these laws.
Exempting an extensive range of “vegetation management activities” from environmental review on millions of acres of federal land will leave irreplaceable forests at risk from reckless logging projects.
I strongly urge you to vote “No” on the “Fix Our Forests Act.”
