I am concerned about the the efforts that are being made to attack women's rights. Abortion access is a scary topic. I assure you, it is scarier to be in the shoes of a woman who needs access to an abortion. It was a place I never hoped to find myself in, but when at 12 weeks the doctor could not detect a heartbeat for my very much wanted pregnancy, it became inevitable. My body was not evicting the pregnancy on its own, which posed dangers to my own health. I was given the option to either trigger my body to abort either through a pill or through a D&C. Both of these options are in the category of being "abortions" even though my fetus was already dead. Because I was able to access this care at the time, I was able to safely conceive shortly after that and I now have an amazing 4 year old son. My child exists todsy because I was able to have safe access to reproductive care, specifically, to procedures that are labeled "abortions." I am devastated and heartbroken to know that women in other states are not as lucky, and I am irate to know that women potentially may die from being unable to access care. I am further enraged to see activity at the state level indicating that this may soon be brought up again at the federal level. Please work to support a uterus-having person's right to make their own reproductive choices. Please make sure that the right to an abortion becomes a protected right for all persons in this country.
