Demand New Senate Democratic Leadership to Defend Democracy
To: Sen. Hutton
From: A constituent in Milwaukee, WI
March 21
The decision by Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer to allow a Republican funding bill to pass has sparked outrage and calls for his removal from Democratic lawmakers and constituents. This bill threatens critical social safety net programs and enables the Trump administration's damaging policies, including slashing thousands of federal jobs through the so-called "department of government efficiency." By surrendering leverage against the Republican agenda, Schumer has failed to effectively counter an administration that has repeatedly disregarded democratic norms and the rule of law. His actions represent a profound betrayal of the Democratic Party's values and a dereliction of his duty to resist policies that harm vulnerable communities and undermine the foundations of our democracy. It is time for Senate Democrats to unite behind new leadership that will forcefully and uncompromisingly defend the rights and well-being of all Americans against the escalating authoritarianism and cronyism of the Trump regime. The future of our nation depends on unwavering opposition to the forces of oppression and a robust defense of the principles of equality, justice, and human dignity that define the true spirit of American democracy.
