The proposed revocation of legal status for 240,000 Ukrainians who fled the conflict with Russia is deeply concerning. These individuals sought refuge in the United States to escape violence and turmoil, and revoking their legal protections would subject them to potential deportation back to a war zone. Such an action contradicts the principles of providing humanitarian assistance and protecting vulnerable populations during times of crisis. I urge you to reject this plan and instead extend continued legal protections to Ukrainians who have been displaced by the Russian invasion. Upholding the United States' commitment to human rights and international norms for the treatment of refugees and asylum seekers must be a priority. Revoking legal status from those fleeing conflict goes against our nation's values and diminishes America's moral standing on the global stage.
