I'm writing today to ask that you do all you possibly can to oppose the current administrations efforts to degrade and destroy American culture and history.
It is unconscionable that icons of our history and culture including the Navajo Code Talkers and Colin Powell, just to name two, are being removed from government websites.
It is many bridges too far to limit, alter, or exert presidential or private control over the Smithsonian. In the last World War, Hitler and his henchmen deemed huge swaths of artwork as degenerate, destroyed important artwork and books, and attempted to erase eons of history and culture from the public memory. They did not succeed, thanks in large part to courageous librarians and museum workers. We cannot allow history to repeat or mimic that period. We cannot endanger those historical and cultural icons or the people who are dedicated to protecting and sharing them.
Please actively oppose any attempt to limit our historic and cultural institutions and help us preserve them for our future.
