I’m writing to express my deep frustration and disbelief over the recent tariffs imposed by the U.S. government. Let me be blunt: these tariffs are economically stupid, strategically misguided, and incredibly damaging to American workers, businesses, and consumers alike.
You don’t need an advanced economics degree to understand how tariffs function as a hidden tax on American families. They raise prices, disrupt supply chains, and provoke retaliation from our trade partners. Whether it’s small businesses trying to import parts or regular people just trying to afford groceries, we’re the ones stuck with the bill.
If the goal is to support American industry, there are far smarter and more targeted ways to do it—investing in innovation, workforce training, infrastructure. Slapping arbitrary fees on goods coming into the country is not strategy; it’s lazy policy.
I urge you to push back against this nonsense. Don’t let short-sighted politics masquerade as economic policy. Fight for smarter trade decisions that actually help the people you represent—because these tariffs sure aren’t doing that.
