Fight like Sen. Cory Booker

To: Sen. Cantwell, Sen. Murray, Rep. Smith

From: A constituent in Seattle, WA

April 2

I heard someone say today that "courage begets courage." I cried watching Cory Booker today, not because I thought that his filibuster would materially change anything but because his courage stirred my courage. When we ask you to fight harder, to be louder, to make more of a ruckus it is not because we are immature or want drama. It is because we are about to put our own bodies on the line to save this democracy and we are looking to you for courage. We know that to stop this coup we will need to mobilize in the streets. And we know that to do so is to risk state violence, deportation, martial law. This is serious. The stakes are that high. You cannot stop this coup without us and we cannot stop it without you. We need your courage to lend us courage. Please be like your colleague Cory Booker, whose courage and fierce love brought me to tears today.
