Legislator should be honest about economic risks, responsibilities
To: Rep. Malliotakis
From: A constituent in Staten Island, NY
March 12
Rep. Malliotakis' attempt to deflect blame for potential economic turmoil caused by the current administration's trade policies is concerning. Instead of taking responsibility, she falsely attributes issues like inflation and regulatory burdens to the previous administration, disregarding economic analysis that contradicts her claims. This misrepresentation of facts does a disservice to constituents who rely on their elected officials for honest assessments. A more forthright acknowledgment of the trade-related risks and a willingness to course-correct would better serve the nation's economic interests. Elected leaders must be accountable for their decisions and provide truthful justifications, even when politically inconvenient.
