The Trump administration's treatment of Kilmar Abrego Garcia is deeply concerning. Deporting a Maryland resident with a legal asylum case and U.S. citizen family members to El Salvador's notorious Terrorism Confinement Center, seemingly due to an administrative error, undermines America's commitment to due process and human rights. While the administration alleges MS-13 ties and human trafficking involvement, these unproven claims do not justify violating court orders and bypassing immigration laws through extraordinary presidential powers. I urge you to call for Abrego Garcia's immediate return to the United States to have his asylum case properly adjudicated. Upholding the rule of law and protecting vulnerable migrants from being unlawfully rendered to brutal foreign prisons must be a priority for protecting America's moral standing in the world.
