More than 1,600+ US scientists are presently jobhunting in Europe and Canada because they are being hindered from doing good and safe research in the US. This braindrain is an example of how the present DOGE cuts are harming all of us and how the instilling of fear has guided Doge and this administration. Science embodies the search for truth. The US has been a beacon for all of humanity for over 80 years. Respect for the US abroad has disintegrated. The present assault on science will damage our country far into the future, including future medical care. It is yet one more reason we have become a laughing stock in the world. Once you lose the respect and trust of others, it can never be forgotten. This is also true for countries.
