1. Angry re: YES CR vote. 2. Defend civil liberties re: Khalil
To: Sen. Shaheen, Sen. Hassan
From: A verified voter in Swanzey, NH
March 14
1. I’m disappointed and angry that you voted for the GOP budget today. It was a terrible decision to have to make, of course. I hope you publicly state why you voted the way you voted. Otherwise you tell a story of Democratic cowardice and betrayal, whether you want to tell that story or not. If you have a better, fiercer story, tell it.
2. I ask you to do everything in your power to advocate for the legal treatment of Mahmoud Khalil. He’s a green card holder and married to an American citizen. His arrest and detention are illegal — and clearly test cases for how this administration wants to treat any citizen it wishes to persecute. Please be fierce and relentless in the protection of our civil rights and liberties.
My family and I need to you to fight. If you are fighting, we need to see it. We need to see and hear you acting on behalf of the Constitution, our economy, and our safety.
