I’m writing to ask you to defend our constitutional right to protest, and demand the immediate release of Mahmoud Khalil.
He is a lawful permanent resident who has been detained without charges in retaliation for exercising his First Amendment rights.
As a lawful permanent resident and a soon-to-be father, Mr. Khalil’s abrupt detention and potential deportation raise significant concerns about the infringement of First Amendment rights and the due process afforded to individuals under our Constitution.
The United Nations has called for Mr. Khalil’s immediate release, emphasizing the importance of upholding international human rights standards.
I urge you to take all necessary actions to ensure that Mr. Khalil is released promptly and that his rights are fully respected. It is imperative that our nation upholds the principles of free speech and due process, regardless of political viewpoints.
