I am writing to request that you do everything in your power to stop the unconstitutional and immoral actions of the DHS and ICE in detaining people with the legal right to be in this country purely due to their political views. Mahmoud Khalli, Badar Khan Suri, Rumeysa Ozturk, and other legal immigrants who have been apprehended in ways reminiscent of Soviet secret police must be released! Future arrest must be done on a legal basis in alignment with the constitution and our American values. And there must be transparency about the people who were sent to gulags in El Salvador. It is an embarrassment that this administration is so blatant in its desire to appeal to the worst of Trump’s base with these show arrests that do nothing to actually make Americans safe. Arresting people because they wrote an editorial went to a protest or have an autism awareness tattoo makes a joke of our country and its values. Please do everything in your power to end these illegal, unethical, and unamerican detentions, deprivations, and deportations.
